COMMUNITY PLAN (CP) ACTING ON YOUR INFORMATION.
We have your views and have put them in the CP document – so what are we doing now? Well we are attempting to put a few of those ideas, concerns or improvements into reality – current and achieved projects are:
Crooklands Hill Footpath - work on this project is complete and was opened to the public on May 4th 2017. The next project is a footway opposite the Crooklands Hotel to complete this project.
New Development - the team is in discussions with SLDC Planners and the developers to ensure they are fully aware of what the community is hoping for from the new development hopefully to ensure a development that will be in keeping with the village and surrounding area and enhance the parish. This request has been thwarted somewhat when the District Councillor decided to change her mind and give her own views in preference to those of the community, the group are doing all we can to limit the damage done by this but unfortunately the developers are using this as their consultation report and choosing to ignore the publics views for bungalows, green spaces layout and routes to the village.
Welcome Pack – When answering the Questionnaire many of you felt a 'Welcome Pack' would be a good idea not only for the new people to the community but for everyone. In response the Working team has produced the following, we hope you will find it useful and keep us informed on any changes or additional information you would like included by contacting the Clerk firstname.lastname@example.org Please go to the home page to download the pack.
Community gardens – many concerns were raised regarding the look of the village's green spaces with a view to improving and possibly entering ‘The Village in Bloom’ competition. We have made a start on the village hall gardens by clearing the weeds from the garden and removing the trees from the car park area which unfortunately had got too large to be managed we have now replanting those areas with shrubs which hopefully will gives is lots of colour once they have got established.
Crooklands Footway - we have now got the footway from Crooklands Hill to the canal bridge which takes us to the parish boundary.
Our next projects will be:
We erected a Christmas Tree and had a carol service to bring this community together on Friday 1st December 2017 at 6:30pm at the Millennium Clock. This was a great success with more than 100 people attending so we have decided to do it again next year on Saturday 1st December, the band is booked and hopefully we will have some seating for the elderly and very young and a mulled wine, sausage rolls and mince pies from the community. Thanks to everyone who supplies food and drink and to the community for supporting the event.
We are in the process of tring to erect a marker advising everyone they are entering our parish at both end of the village on the A65.
